The init file mentions doing it monthly. I'm not sure that I see the value in that. I allowed mine to send its info once, for the benefit of someone other than myself. e.g. Install stats and records of hardware. Though there really needs to be some sort of follow up that says whether that hardware was usable or not. But I turned off the service.
