ah, good point.  i'm just going with WEP for now but i'll make a side
note of that.

and onward, i've just installed the "bcm43xx-fwcutter" package, and
i'm downloading the firmware from
http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2
which is what is listed as the appropriate content for F7.

so far, so good?  i just want to verify that that's the right firmware
file before going any further.  i'm paranoid that way.  :-)
