In the 2.6.22 kernel they moved rtc to hpet, and I still get the same
error becuase I think that they hardwired the directory location
inside of the qemu build.  I do not worry about it though.

Once you get the machine running and can log into windows goto
mycomputer and right click choose properties and go to the hardware
tab.  Choose device manager and right click computer and choose
properties.  Change the type from acpi to standard pc then reboot the
machine.  You should see a marked improvement in performance.  Has
something to do with an acpi interrupt that windows xp uses and cause
much traffic in the kernel.
