I downloaded R102318.EXE from Dell, extracted it with unzip -a ,
and ran:

bcm43xx-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware /root/firmware/bcmwl5.sys 2>&1 | tee cut.log

and

modprobe bcm43xx

I then ran system-config-network. On the GUI, click new, select
Wireless Connection, and click Forward. At this point a number of
diagnostics appear in the widow running system-config-network
(see below). My only choice is "Other Wireless Card". I select it
and click Forward. In the next box, among other things, there
is a drop-down list of devices. BCM4306 is not one of them. The
closest is Broadcom Tigon3, which I doubt is correct.

It seems to me that the system does not know about the device.
On the other hand:

[root@mbrc15 ~]# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:""

eth0 no wireless extensions.

mac80211 145609 2 rc80211_simple,bcm43xx_mac80211

Is there a missed step? Is the driver I downloaded wrong? (It was
on the README list.) If you have read my other threads, you know
I got closer to a functioning interface using ndiswrapper. It
never did work, however.
