To eliminate the dependency problem, I did "yum install dkms", and then followed the procedure recommended by David Corrigan. It really looks pretty good, but still doesn't work. At first it complained that there was no device, and I should check the wire. I fiddled a little, and it is now complaining that my key is too large or otherwise wrong. It seems to be assuming that I am using WEP. In fact I am using WPA/PSK, and I see no way to inform it of that. My key is a long string of random bytes that pass isgraph() and are not single quote: \' . It works fine with WinXP. Thanks for your thoughts.
