There are occasional signs of life. I found doing a network install, like that, was faster than downloading a huge ISO (never mind burning it, and the following steps). Probably, simply because you download only what you really use. But there's a disadvantage if you have to restart, you lose what you've done so far. Doing it through a proxy with a large cache would avoid that problem, though.
