AGP hardware problem, need work around.

Hello all,
I have a Sony Vaio laptop that has a hardware issue. This issue can be worked around in Windows but I'm unsure of how (if possible) to accomplish this in Fedora 7. Unfortunately the laptop is older than two years so a replacement mobo would cost nearing $700 from Sony. When booting into Fedora (runlevel 5) the laptop just blanks, power is still on but no love. I can however boot to runlevel 3 and work my life away. I solved the same issue in Windows by changing from 'Intel 82855 to AGP' to 'Standard PCI to PCI'. Accelerated graphics is not a big deal, just want my laptop to work with X. See below for 'lspci -tv'
