Bingo - updated. The Fedora folks are worse than the Microsoft folks on this one. Simple fix on a relatively (to W2K) OS and nobody made it. At least the

So in the spirit of being a nice woman I figured I'd pass along what I did
to update an FC4 installation I have not had time to move upwards to
something that'll crash more often because it's newer. (I am NOT happy
with FC5 on my laptop.)

Sounds like Fedora isn't the distribution for you. You should check out
CentOS (specifically, the upcoming CentOS 5), which is ultimately derived
from Fedora but with a much longer lifespan for each release. (Years instead
of months.)

I am also thinking of checking out SUSE. But Centos may be more what I need
for a mostly untouched firewall and email support machine. I've been
thinking about it for some time now. I simply have been too busy with
an April deadline for a major project to even consider modifying the
support infrastructure I work with.

(I figure I've cut 10,000 (give or take a lot) lines of code in the last
three months. And I have another 1000 to 3000 to write by the end of the
month. It gets exhausting quickly. At least it is paying fairly well for
working from home.)
