FC6-Aspire 5633 Graphics resolution

Hi,
I am having an Acer aspire 5633WLMi laptop. The
monitor type is Aspire 5630. The system is using
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300, NVIDIA PowerMizer 6.0. With
Intel 945GM Express chipset with GMA 950.

I am running Fedora Core 6, but somehow I am not
getting the resolution that is expected. When I try
configuring Systems-Administration-Display. I get the
option to change monitor type ( to Aspire 56s) and the
resolutions 1280 x 800. I do this from root and when I
logoff and login back I dont see any changes. The
X-Config seems to revert back to 1024 x 768 and
Monitor type goes to LCD 1280x1024.
I had tried other tricks like downloading and
installing NVIDIA Driver
(NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1) but these seems to be
of no use. Can someone please advise me on how to gain
my resolution that is expected.

Thank you
Regards,
- ash#
