Dear all,

as explained some weeks ago, I had a problem with the IDE/AHCI
controller of my PC. At boot time I had the error message in the subject
and I had problems with USB and IDE devices. The problems were more
evident with the 2.6.19 FC6 kernels. With 2.6.18 FC6 kernels was at
least usable even if not at its best (e.g., DVD-writers could work just
at very low speed, 1-2x).

At the end I decided to try the 2.6.20 kernel. I took the src.rpm from
the FC 6.9.1 distribution, compiled, and created the x86_64 rpm
packages. During the install phase of the kernel rpm it complained about
the version of the mkinitrd, but I decided to ignore this complain and
to install it with the "--nodeps" switch... All went well. I have been
running this kernel for a couple of hours and all the problems appear to
be solved. No more error messages at boot time, nor problems with the
devices.

Regards,
	Alberto
