One of my desktops is RH8 -> RH9 -> FC2 -> FC5.  Some things are
broken and it is not really as stable as I would like (part of the
desktop is gone, SMP does not work anymore).  In a few weeks it will
be wiped and upgraded to FC6....  I also had issues with upgrading
from FC4->6 and FC5->6 on multiple machines.  My main x86_64 laptop
(FC5->6) took a very long time (20+hours).

The bottom line, I would recommend a full install if you can (backup
your data and /home, the reinstall).
