Why is the network process still looking for eth1 ?

In FC6, you also have to list it in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-compat.
Try that.
You probably already know this, but be sure that you have:
options ndiswrapper if_name=wlan0
alias wlan0 ndiswrapper
in /etc/modprobe.conf
