A few details. 0) its bcm43xx, not bcw43xx 1) I did an lsmod and bcm43xx was there again, so I removed it with modprobe -r this time. 2) I think this all started with the installation of a new kernel this morning. uname -a Linux xxxx 2.6.19-1.2911.fc6PAE #1 SMP Sat Feb 10 15:16:17 EST 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I had no issues prior to today that I can remember. 3) I had the Wireless Assistant applet running in my taskbar. I removed that and it seems to not lock up anymore. I'll keep an eye on it to see what happens.
