yeah - I just chalked it up to green tea or a typhoon  '-)
I'd say your hypothesis is the most probable - system ram and vm ram, but I 
just added to your hypothesis, because I've been doing a lot of experimenting 
with vmware recently, also on FC6, but on my desktops. I do have vm's running 
on my laptop as well, without issue, but it's a 3.0 GHz P4 with 1.5 GB of 
ram - not your usual lappy
