Well, it's a tarball, so here's the standard mechanism for building and installing one. 1. Download the tarball to a scratch directory 2. Extract the tarball's contents: $ tar xzf name-of-tarball.tar.gz That unpacks it into a directory (usually) named the same as the tarball but without the ".tar.gz" bit. 3. "cd" into that directory and run $ ./configure That configures the source. 4. Build the driver: $ make 5. Become the root user: $ su Password: (enter root user's password) 6. Install the driver: # make install 7. Try to load the driver: # modprobe name-of-driver 8. Verify that the driver loaded: # lsmod | grep name-of-driver 9. See if you have an eth0 device now: # ifconfig 10.
