In the problem box, what else had changed?  (New OS installs, kernel
updates, reconfigurations, etc.)

On one of my boxes, I tried out FC4, and all was well.  Then put on FC5
and had problems with some hardware not being detected, or no booting.
I had to change some BIOS options regarding ACPI.  It seemed there was
some changes between releases, and the combinations of my hardware and
BIOS didn't co-operate until I fiddled with the BIOS settings.  I can
imagine a similar problem happening between versions of kernels.
