Yum dit install updates. But the next day, i was notified off exact the same amound of updates. I looked carefully when updating; After downloading when there is a bar with configuring packages; the bar disapeered and no messages completed installating packages came up. So i tryed to do it with updating packages - the same I tryed in a terminal window with rpm - i get: PANIC fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error (-30977) from dbenv -> open: DB_RUNRECOVERY; Fatal error, run database recovery Cannot open Packages database in /usr/lib/rpm. Question: How do i run a rpm-database recovery ??? Thanks very much Erik
I've experienced this type of problem once with yum. It completed the install and afterward showed the same packages available. This was with test. I could not reproduce the failure though.
I did not see database corruption though with this error. Message with problem: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-test-list/2007-January/msg00133.html Bug report opened up, then closed since problem was one time incident. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=222400 Others gave clues to how to repair the rpm database. Jim -- It's union rules. There's nothing we can do about it. Sorry.
