You configure XMMS with both so that when you try to play a directory with it, and you select *that* directory, it uses the device you've associated with it. You're stuck with this work-around, since XMMS doesn't give you a way to specify a device, and we no-longer have a static CD-ROM mount point in fstab. Since /media is empty, initially. You could try what I just did: Create another directory, somewhere, and specify that in the XMMS configuration. This gives you something predictable for you to browse to, that doesn't go away on you, either. -- (Currently testing FC5, but still running FC4, if that's important.)
