AHA! Hadn't ever known that. I exited and gave it the whole nine yards "su
- root"
NOW lspci and lsmod work strait from the prompt, sure enough -- and lspci
| grep -i net gives me (retyping) "00:09.0 Ethernet controller: Intel
Corporation 82557/8/9 [Ethernet Pro 100] (rev 10)" -- and no mention of
any other ethernet anything, 3c501 or otherwise.
