In my /var/named/chroot/etc, I have:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root  874 Jan 10 17:14 localtime
-rw-r----- 1 root 1100 Nov  3 08:55 named.caching-nameserver.conf
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root 1486 Dec 31 12:18 named.conf*
-rw-r----- 1 root  955 Nov  3 08:55 named.rfc1912.zones
-rw-r----- 1 root  108 Dec  3 16:08 rndc.key

 and in my /var/named/chroot/var/named/

drwxrwx--- 2 named 4096 Aug 25  2004 data/
-rw-r----- 1 root   198 Dec  6 08:23 localdomain.zone
-rw-r----- 1 root   195 Oct 19  2004 localhost.zone
-rw-r----- 1 root   427 Oct 19  2004 named.broadcast
-rw-r----- 1 root  2518 Nov  3 08:55 named.ca
-rw-r----- 1 root   424 Dec  6 08:23 named.ip6.local
-rw-r----- 1 root   426 Dec  6 08:23 named.local
-rw-r----- 1 root  1195 Dec  3 16:08 named.root
-rw-r----- 1 root   427 Oct 19  2004 named.zero
drwxr-x--- 2 root  4096 Dec  3 16:08 slave/
drwxrwx--- 2 named 4096 Jul 27  2004 slaves/

The slave and slaves directories are new. I have never seen them before, so something really has changed since the update.

Nevertheless, as I had said, yum said that rpmsave files were created, but none actually were ever there when I went to look, which was immediately after the update. Either they never got created, or some automatic mechanism deleted them as soon as they were created.

The named server appears to be running fine, however, as I can connect to the internet without problems.
