IS this a known problem with a solution?

Upgrade to VMware Workstation 5.5.3.  If your host OS is linux you
also need to download and apply the vmware-any-any-update106.tar.gz
patch.
I found also that vmware-server-1.0.1 wouldn't build the kernel interfaces/modules now that I am on fc6 kernel.2895. The same update106 listed by Kam solves that.
