Can't Move Windows in Gnome

Hi all,

I have the strangest problem.  When I login to Gnome as a certain user every application I open appears as normal, but without the "window" and the minimize/maximize/close icons.  This makes it pretty difficult to multitask.  It's almost as if the windows manager part of Gnome isn't starting, but I'm not sure where to view the logs on this or figure out what is wrong.

Gnome is working fine for root, and I presume it works for other users as well.  It's my suspicion that I've messed up some "." directory (like "~/username/.gconf or .gnome2" as I think I've seen this once before.  I did try and restore the .gconf* and .gnome* directories for this user, but it is still broken.

It was working fine until I applied a bunch of updates via yum the other day, including a new nvidia module which really hosed things too (apparently my card is too old for the latest driver, so I uninstall the new version and install the "legacy" version, which works fine).

Any tips?

Thanks!

Nick
