I've got one of those, and have never had any trouble with it.
Unfortunately, I don't have the camera with me at the moment (and I'm on
x86_64 and FC6).

The messages between 13:54:00 and 13:57:00 look unrelated -- they seem
to be network related.

Did you unplug the camera at 13:57:16? If not, then you've probably got
a dodgy USB connection.

It looks like you've got (at least) two USB buses on your system -- are
you using a different USB port to the one you used before?

I hate to suggest it, but it *is* possible that either hardware or
software has got confused, and powering the system off and then on again
would reset things.

The Canon A510 Powershot doesn't support that -- it looks to software
like a camera, not a disk drive.
