Thanks for all the input. I do expect that I will use sleep/hibernate, and assuming that I do with it what I do with my home machine (that's what I bought it for) I will have Kmail, Firefox, and either Kword or OpenOffice open almost all of the time. Additionally, I will likely have Kopete, Skype, and one or two other's open. I use the GImp and Mplayer a bit, but I would very likely shut those down before hibernating/sleeping. So it needs to hold at least 6 programs' worth of data when I hibernate/sleep, but none of them are especially heavy (with the possible exeption of OOo). The machine has got only 80 Gigs or hard disk, which I expect to be chisled away very soon. For instance, I need 20 gigs for either a windows partition or a VM machine (I need to run SolidWorks), and my current /home partition is over 30 gigs. So I'd like to understand fully the consequences of two little/much swap space. I have STFA, but most of the discussions pertain to desktop machines and don't take into account the idea of hibernation/sleep. Thanks in advance, guys.
