Re: How much swap on laptop?

Thanks for all the input. I do expect that I will use sleep/hibernate,
and assuming that I do with it what I do with my home machine (that's
what I bought it for) I will have Kmail, Firefox, and either Kword or
OpenOffice open almost all of the time. Additionally, I will likely
have Kopete, Skype, and one or two other's open. I use the GImp and
Mplayer a bit, but I would very likely shut those down before
hibernating/sleeping. So it needs to hold at least 6 programs' worth
of data when I hibernate/sleep, but none of them are especially heavy
(with the possible exeption of OOo).

The machine has got only 80 Gigs or hard disk, which I expect to be
chisled away very soon. For instance, I need 20 gigs for either a
windows partition or a VM machine (I need to run SolidWorks), and my
current /home partition is over 30 gigs. So I'd like to understand
fully the consequences of two little/much swap space. I have STFA, but
most of the discussions pertain to desktop machines and don't take
into account the idea of hibernation/sleep.

Thanks in advance, guys. (and gal)
