I need to stop working so late at night. Thanks guys, that did it. I was 
thrown off by that '-cf' on the end of 'sendmail' - made me think "command 
option"  instead of just assuming it meant exactly what it said "install 
package sendmail-cf"  

That allowed my 'make' command to successfully execute, I should say. It 
didn't seem to fix the original problem...
