Well, I guess I stumbled on the correct formulation, because the above is exactly what I did, including removing the 'dnl' at the beginning of the line, and, of course, using my ISP's mail server rather than my own. But, as I mentioned before, it didn't work. There's still that pesky double-issue, too: presumably, sendmail is what's used to email my denyhosts reports to me, and that has undergone no special configuration, yet it works, and, secondly, this was all working fine under FC5 - I think the identity question could be the culprit. I haven't gotten to testing that, yet. Denyhosts is coming from 'nobody', which is an actual user on my system - maybe that's the difference.
