If you have configured a PPP connection, it would be something like
"ifup ppp0". In order for this to work, you have to have a properly
configured /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0. With most
ISPs, you also need /etc/ppp/chap-secrets and/or pap-secrets
properly configured. I believe the GUI network configuration tool
will set this for you.

There are a couple of other options as well - you can use wdial
(cli) or kppp (GUI) for example. I know kppp does not configure the
ifcfg-ppp? files, so you can not use it to bring up the connection
at boot. I don't remember if wdial does, but I do not believe so.

I am sorry for not being more specific, but I have not set up a new
dialup connection for a while - I just re-use the same config files
the few times I need a dialup connection. But this should tell you
where to look.
