Hi all,
Just wondering if there's something for friendly to use than badblocks
to test a disk?
You should be using smartmontools for routine monitoring. badblocks is for
burn in or extensive testing after a partial failure (as opposed to just
tossing the drive).
That was basically my response, but that is not what he
is doing. He is testing newly arrived drives, and wants
a quick go/no-go test of the drive. For this, badblocks
is a reasonable way to go.

You have found the bank of Larn.
I can explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you.
I speak only for myself, and I am unanimous in that!
