Ancient is a better description of what's in FC5 and 6. :) It was only added to core in order to let Rhythmbox support ipods, and now even Rhythmbox needs a newer version. It's updated in rawhide and will likely (hopefully) see an update pushed for FC{5,6} before too long. > I build it from the CVS source. I've been packaging CVS versions for myself since FC4. It's worked quite well for me and Gtkpod developer Jorg Schuler is a real nice guy. I sent him some iTunesDB files showing what iTunes did when adding lyrics to a track and he added the capability to Gtkpod the next day. :) > You'd imagine --prefix would arrange all that for you, but > apparently not. Sigh. I hate Configure:-( That one seems more like a pkgconfig thing, just so you're sure to channel your hate in the right place. :) > Also, gtkpod is a little sensitive to the existing .gtkpod dir and > the IPod contents. Tends to crash:-( So: remove your .gtkpod > directory before running the first time. Hmmm, I don't recall the last time I wiped mine clean. There was a change in the prefs file code a few months back that had some rough edges for a few days but I think that was all sorted out fairly quickly. That's probably the last time I had to move anything around. I filed an RFE to update libgpod to something newer[1]. I'm hopeful that once 0.4.1 is released that will happen, which shouldn't be too long.
