On Nov 29 Mikkel L. Ellertson did spake thusly:

Don Raikes wrote:
I installed fc6 onto a pc that had windows xp installed on an ntfs filesystem.

I wish to access some of the files from the ntfs filesystem from within linux.

I added the line:

/dev/sda1 /windows ntfs rw,auto,user 0 0

to my /etc/fstab

When I tried to mount /windows, I get an error saying unrecognized filesystem type ntfs.

How should I specify this filesystem to be able to access it?

You will need to get the ntfs module for your kernel. It is not
included in the standard packages, but have to be downloaded from an
add-on repository.

ntfs-3g is available in extras
