Open Office Problem

Open Office has suddenly decided that the file open dialogue box should freeze the program. Since it's been several days since the last OO update and I've edited several files in the mean time, I'm guessing something else has broken and is causing the problem. I just have no idea of what that would be.

To reproduce the problem, start an OO app from the start menu and select file -> open. OO freezes solid and only a close window request followed by a forced quit exits the program. Double clicking on a file (e.g., the file I originally wanted to edit) works just fine and starts OO with the selected file. I'm just unable to use the file open dialogue to select a file from with an OO app. The only output from X that relates to the problem is the kill requests are printed. Nothing in any log file.

Has anyone else seen this? Any hints as to how to fix it short of a reboot? Just restarting X didn't fix it but a reboot did. I'm running FC6 with all updates applied.
Thanks,
Dave
