Try the following steps now:

(1) rpm -qV kernel
(Verify that all kernel files are correct, in particular that you have the stock drivers now.)

(2) system-config-network
(2a) Delete all deivces from the Devices tab and all hardware entries from the Hardware tab. Save the changes.

(3) Remove any references to eth0, eth1, etc. from /etc/modprobe.conf.

(4) Reboot.

This should let your system reconfigure all your network devices. If you have the firmware installed, then the ipw2200 device should be detected.

(5) system-config-network
(5a) Check the Hardware tab and see if the device was found.
(5b) Check the Devices tab and see if you have an interface to the device and if its type is Wireless. If so, edit the device and make sure that "Bind to MAC address" is checked. Click "Probe".
(5c) Save your changes.

If you don't have the hardware entry or there is a device but it is not of type wireless, report back.
