using driconf (http://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/DriConf) set for GL_MAX_TEXTURE
LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 glxinfo -l | grep GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE
GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE = 2048
before its value GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE = 1024 it cause cut off in widescreen
in Image Quality->Support larger textures not guaranteed to fit into
graphics memory=Announce hardware limits

(I have installed from CD in Dell PC Optiplex 160L,
using i810 VGA, that running okay except miss kernel version using
xen., must install the standard kernel to have i810 vga driver
running, copying to my laptop because the cdrom is broken)
