From the mount man page:
If any user should be able to unmount, then use users instead
of user in the fstab line.
but I see you're using both. You might try losing one or the other of them.

Thanks, but with the line
/dev/hdf /mnt/dvd udf,iso9660 defaults,noauto,user,ro 0 0
in /etc/fstab, everything seems to work fine.
