I have used kde as my desktop for years and I DO NOT want to get back into the "my favorite desktop is better than yours" flame war.
However, I have recently done an install from scratch of FC6 on a former FC5 box. The ONLY thing retained is home directories. And that is probably where the problem is.
One user (me, unfortunately) cannot configure the screen saver - any other user (privileged or regular user) can click on the "Configure screen saver" button and the window pops up with a scrolling list of screen savers. When I do that, I get ths configuration window but the list is unpopulated.
I am assuming that it is a setup snafu on my part, but I have tried moving ALL of the .kde, .gnome, .X* (.Xdefaults, .Xclients, ... etc.) and every other config dir to another location so that they would be recreated, but with no luck - the same results always occur.
Any suggestions on this one would really help (yes, I have previously posted this on the kde-linux list but without any answers).
Thanks - FC6 is a really solid release and my hats are off to the developers.
