I am having an odd Python issue when trying to run a yum update. I get the following message: [root@nc6230 ~]# yum update Loading "installonlyn" plugin Setting up Update Process Setting up repositories Reading repository metadata in from local files Resolving Dependencies --> Populating transaction set with selected packages. Please wait. ---> Package python-devel.i386 0:2.4.4-1.fc6 set to be updated --> Running transaction check --> Processing Conflict: python-devel conflicts python < 2.4.4-1.fc6 --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: python-devel conflicts with python < 2.4.4-1.fc6 When I do a query as to what python packages I have installed I get the following: [root@nc6230 ~]# rpm -qa |grep python- python-numeric-23.7-2.2.2 libvirt-python-0.1.7-2 python-virtinst-0.95.0-1.fc6 python-urlgrabber-2.9.9-2 python-crypto-2.0.1-4.fc6 python-elementtree-1.2.6-5 notify-python-0.1.0-3.fc6 python-sqlite-1.1.7-1.2.1 xchat-python-2.6.8-0 python-2.4.3-18.fc6 dbus-python-0.70-6 audit-libs-python-1.2.9-1.fc6 gstreamer-python-0.10.5-2.fc6 rpm-python-4.4.2-32 python-sqlite2-2.3.2-2.fc6 python-ldap-2.2.0-2.1 python-devel-2.4.3-18.fc6 python-imaging-1.1.5-6.fc6 libselinux-python-1.30.29-2 python-2.4.4-1.fc6 libxml2-python-2.6.27-1.FC6 If you notice both Python 2.4.3 and 2.4.4 are loaded The update is for updating python-devel to 2.4.4, however, it won't let me. I have not done any oddball upgrades and have let yum do all of my updates. When I try to un-install the 2.4.3 version, of course, I get all sorts of error message. How can I fix this? Any assistance that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
