Thanks, figured it out and I am up and running as of now. Had set to auto instead of managed. Working fine.

you did not describe what you have done so far!

anyway, for a newbie, i recommend you go the GUI way:

as root, run "system-config-network", click on the "New" icon, and
"Wireless Connection".

you are then good to go!
