I tried everything I could think of and could not resize evolution. I finally increased the resolution of the screen which made the evolution window smaller. At this point I could grab a side of the evolution window and change the size. After I reduced the size quite a bit, I changed my screen resolution back to what I had before and could resize evolution without a problem. Hope this helps!!
