As of today, ATI and NVIDIA are the only ones that seem to want to keep everything a secret from the open source development community. If you want to complain to anyone, complaining here will only frustrate the situation and probably make the video card manufacturers laugh. They provide drivers only as a service and with them not being open sourced, no one can do anything other than wait for NVIDIA or ATI to catch up to the newest kernel version/build. The only other option, is to wait for them to follow with a build for the newer kernels before updating your own. Realizing that you may need to do some fancy work to get your video card working again with the new kernel. The MOUSE is a different story. The MOUSE is well documented and the protocol clearly defined. And might add has not changed much in the 20 or so years of existence. The video card industry; however, has not done such a good job and only in the last 4-5 years have headed more toward proprietary hardware/software to produce the quick responses.
