Nope, but I did find a way to fix it. I found where whois.verisign-grs.com was 
listed as the default server for .com domains and changed it to 
whois.internic.net and THAT worked. So, it would appear to me that 
whois.verisign-grs.com is doing something different than jwhois expects and 
jwhois doesn't properly redirect for that reason.
