I presume that in KDE this is Krdc (K-> Internet-> Remote Desktop Connection)
I normally use vnc over an ssh tunnel - I have not tried Krdc but for it to be
useful it would need to be able to see the remote desktop immediately after the
remote machine had been rebooted and before the user logged in - so that for
remote maintenance (for a relative that could not reboot the machine themselves
and was not computer literate apart from using mail clients and web browsers) so
that even from a distance the remote (server) machine could be re-started and
the desktop configured and made ready for the user.

If this is possible then maybe Vino would be an alternative.

I would be interested in hearing other people's experiences on this issue.
