In earlier versions of Linux several utilities (and even the filesystem way back when) had a 2GB limit on functionality that was a feature of the 32bit operating system. I believe that limit has been raised to several TB now. it was (as I updated to FC6) a fully updated FC5: now I do not have FC5 on my computers any longer, they have been updated to FC6 and I didn't try same experiment to copy large numbers of files untill now...but tomorrow I will try under FC6!!!!
