Try to execute /etc/init.d/wpa_supplicant start in your shell. But first you have to modify /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf and mayby /etc/sysconfig/wpasupplicant I didn't get the Fedora packages of wpa_supplicant and the madwifi driver to work and compiled them on my own.
