Hi,
Andrius V írta:
Hello,
I have HP PSC 2355 pritner/scanner/copier. Printer works ok, however I
can't scan. sane-scan-finder -q returns that it found a scanner,
however scanimage -L says that no scanner were identified. What should
I do?
AFAIK it's an USB device. Regular users cannot access USB devices,
you have to setup the network scanning so users from localhost (or from
any machine on your LAN) may scan on your scanner. This is how I did
it with my Brother MFC-215C after installing the vendor drivers:
/etc/sane.d/net.conf - uncommented the localhost line
/etc/sane.d/saned.conf - added two lines: "localhost" and
the external address of my ethernet
/etc/sane.d/dll.conf - uncommented the "net" and "brother2" lines
(in your case either the "hpoj" or the "hpaio" will
be needed)
/etc/sane.d/saned.users - listed all the users who may use the scanner
service
in the form of "username:password:scannerdriver"
and finally enabled the SANED XINETD service.
You may or may not modify manually /etc/xinetd.d/saned
so the service runs as root so it can access the USB devices
without problems.
Best regards,
