I managed to install FC6 on my sony vaio, and I can't get the builtin wireless interface to work for the life of me. There's a sticker on the laptop that says Centrino Mobile Technology. I had this working in FC4 and FC5 with the ipw2200 intel driver. I installed the latest versions from atrpms. Now I didn't have to do that, because it came with the kernel: [root@zeus ~]# rpm -qf /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2798.fc6/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2200.ko kernel-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 Doing a grep after ipw2200 in /var/log/messages shows Oct 28 19:03:08 zeus kernel: ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, 1.1.2kmprq Oct 28 19:03:08 zeus kernel: ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2006 Intel Corporation Oct 28 19:03:08 zeus kernel: ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection Oct 28 19:03:08 zeus kernel: ipw2200: Detected geography ZZM (11 802.11bg channels, 0 802.11a channels) Oct 28 19:08:31 zeus kernel: ipw2200: Failed to send SCAN_ABORT: Command timed out. Oct 28 19:08:32 zeus kernel: ipw2200: Failed to send CARD_DISABLE: Command timed out. This is with the kernel driver. The first line says its version 1.1.2. At ipw2200 sourceforge page (and at atrpms) the latest version is 1.2.0. I'm afraid that if I install the latest version I'll end up with broken kernel rpms, which is not very nice. Has anybody succeeded with centrino wireless? I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's a bug. I disabled WEP encryption in the router. The wireless interface does show up in the network configuration gui, but when I activate it, it says no cable (or link) present.
