No, it doesn't seem to make a difference. /proc/cmdline is currently:

ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 8250.nr_uarts=6 rhgb quiet

but I have tried other variations; I initially used:

ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet 8250.nr_uarts=6
