I saw that too a while back. Guess how!

Why do they do that anyway? Don't kde people log out? Or do they pull
their hair every time they startx trying to figure out which permissions
to fix. 

If I remember correctly though, this only happened when I ran k3b at the
prompt. Starting it from the menu was ok.
