Yes - thanks Rex - I mv'ed the menus directory and ran kbuildsycoca and the K
menu   seems fine now.  Of course there is no new .config/menus directory and I
don't know if it is necessary to have that re-created ? 

Is it necessary ?  If so how does one re-build it ?
