As I proceeded to burn the FC-6 DVD image I just downloaded, I noticed, that I had no /dev/hdc anymore. It was detected by the kernel however, as the output from dmesg shows: Probing IDE interface ide0... hda: WDC WD800JB-00CRA1, ATA DISK drive hdb: WDC WD1600JB-00EVA0, ATA DISK drive ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14 Probing IDE interface ide1... hdc: _NEC DVD_RW ND-4570A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15 It also shows up in hwbrowser. But neither CD-ROM nor blank DVD get me anywhere. The device simply doesn't exist. Maybe it is a problem with udev. However after booting into the previous kernel 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5 everything works as expected. Is this a known problem, and if yes, is it also present in FC-6? -- Gérard Milmeister Langackerstrasse 49 CH-8057 Zürich -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list
