I checked the epoch (the default format doesn't show the epoch), but it was
not changed.  I checked the "new" package, and it has one less changelog
entry than the "old" .1 package.  So yes, there has been a screwup.

rpm -q --qf '%{name}-%{epoch}:%{version}-%{release}.%{arch}\n' gzip tar
